2014 Hunger Report- Hunger Is NOT a Game

Don't forget, there are many people out there wishing they could eat your leftovers and you just end up throwing them out anyway.  It's hard to understand hunger and the helplessness of waste, unless you have been through it.  It is truly shameful to waste the precious resource of food, when there are so many that would eagerly eat it.  Really, there is NO EXCUSE for anyone to be hungry in this world that we live in today.  NO EXCUSE!

My mom would add this to whatever blessing was said before a meal was eaten:

 "And don't forget the little ones who are dying of hunger."

It always made me think twice before digging in.  I have always been thankful for the wonderful choices we have in food.  Eating all the food on your plate because there are starving children in Africa is not going to help.  A decision must be made before you purchase, prepare and eat. Set aside a portion of your abundance to help those who need a decent meal and help your fellow man.
